The Lightning Tree was a book of wonder. I love the writing style of this author, the book is poetic. Not saying the book is one long poem that's not what I mean, its more that the words have this flow that draws the reader in. The book is about a small town that goes from normal to whoa real quick. This review is a little hard to write because I HATE providing reviews with spoilers but every part of the story was important. Reviewing it and blogging about the parts I want to blog about would ruin the suspense that makes this book stand out. Without revealing anything I will say that this book has mystery, love interest (keep in mind the characters ages are 17 so if you are looking for X-rated this isn't it) and a dash of horror. Flora is the main female character and goes through a lot in the book. There is a scene between her and her mom that crushed my poor little heart and when she cried, I cried. Then there is Carl and he owes me some answers. He is the main male character and the glue that holds Flora together but also someone that doesn't reveal a lot of himself at the same time. The thing I liked the most about this book was that I didn't really know who the villain in the book was until I did. I felt like this book was going to lead me somewhere that it didn't but where we ended up was better. Also this book is currently available in the Kindle Unlimited Program!!!
I give this book 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get lost in a storyline that isn't riddled with fluff. I also love how this book held my attention from the first to the last page. Okay so why did I rate this book a 4 and not a 5. This book is part of a series and while it is a beautifully done cliffhanger it still is one. Granted I feel the main answer (who is causing the trouble) was answered but there is more that needs to be revealed. The next book of the series is not out yet (Coming September of 2022) and since its labeled as a trilogy that means there will be at least one more book until we know everything. Is it worth reading? Yes, Yes and Yes but that's why I took a star away.
