Hey everyone it's been a while since I posted a review and it's partly because I haven't been reading. I'm on semester 4 of 5 of grad school and when you add working full time, writing, taking care of my daughter and basic self care I haven't sat down and dove head first into anything. Another reason I haven't been reading is because I found myself in a cycle of repeated themes and avoiding cliffhangers. If you follow me on social member outlets you know I'm a paranormal romance junkie and found that books were starting to muddle together. I recently hurt myself and since I couldn't work I decided to get back to my first love of reading and boy did I found a gem.
I know I said that books were repeating themes and this series was not different. Like other books featuring aliens this series shared a theme in with the aliens had something happen to them that resulted in their females being unable to reproduce and discovered that human females are compatible. I wasn't bored with this series however and I'm glad that I was able to get out of my reading funk with it.
Okay so about the series itself. There are currently 7 books (although I am hoping for at least one more to close up some loose ends). Each book can be read as a stand alone featuring different main characters and a H.E.A. The author did a great job with world building. The different environments throughout the series fascinated me. It reminded me of Earth but different. There were mountains, deserts, forests, and cities. The way the author explained things allowed me to visualize the planet and pull me in. The language was easy enough for me to pick up and I found myself excited that I understood phrases. I found that the story lines and the books themselves got better as the series progressed. Not that it wasn't good from the start but it had more depth, the characters became more complex as I read more of the series .
All of the characters were written with personality diversity. They kinda all read the same in appearance with small changes but they weren't the same on the inside. The warriors all had a specialty that made them vital for their planet and compatible with their mate. The human women came from different backgrounds and different walks of life. And when they decided to stay with their mates the author was sure to give them purpose on the new planet that was more then popping out babies. Go girl power! My favorite two alien characters are the technology alien and the tracker alien. They both just touched the romantic part of my heart. I don't have a favorite human character.
The only thing I didn't like about the series is the books timelines were a little off. The book would end and give a future update but then when I started the next book it would go back to before the update. I also don't like that I don't know what happened to 2 of the females. One in the last book was kidnapped by her mate (they weren't the stars of the book) and we got no update other than the humans friends were still looking. Th other female wanted to go home but I'm not sure if that ever happened. The author could be writing another book but it's not out so there's that.
The series as a whole I would give 5 stars although some books I rated a 4. This is an adult series. It involves mates so there is sex but it's not reading porn. For the most part there is an interesting story line involved in the books. As I said above the later books story lines were stronger. I would recommend this series to anyone that loves Paranormal Romance and is looking for a series to get hooked on. As of today the entire 7 books are available on Kindle Unlimited.
