This is a book about London's Ton and what happens when you play the marriage game for a season. Melinda Smithson is trying to escape a life of marriage for convenience. Mr. Trevor Anaedsley is trying to avoid being married all together.
I liked that this book stayed true to the traditions while introducing characters that allowed for things to be a little out of the box. Reputations needed to be consisted and a women's honor must be kept. Melinda who is mostly referred to as Mellie was a interesting character. I loved that she was independent, smart and witty. She kept me laughing and smiling. It was good considering there was some awkward moments in the story. Even though her character was written as someone that was very logic she was also a dreamer. I found that I wanted all her dreams to come true as I was reading it. Like the different layers of Mellie, Trevor's character was also complex. He was a man of his world although he somethings didn't realize exactly what that meant. It was interesting to watch them struggle to get what they want even when they didn't know what it was that they wanted.
I give this book 4.5 stars. I would recommend it to anyone that is interested in Historical Romances. This book is filled with laughter.
