| l was really excited when I can across this series on Amazon. I put in a search for paranormal series and this caught my eye for a couple of reasons. One was that it was a complete series that was all ready completely released. It has 8 books, 7 are main books with 1 novella. (I did not read the novella but if interested it should be read between books 4 and 5) Another thing that help decide on this series was that the complete series is available on kindle unlimited and since I haven't read anything from this author it allowed me to get to know her without pressure. What I loved about the series. The set up for this series is amazing. It is about 7 sister who are each living with one of the 7 deadly sins. Each sister gets their own book which also means that there are no cliffhangers. Since the books are based on different sins each sister is written different with different characteristics and personalities. Not only are the sisters living with the sins they also are living with magic and apart of a forewarned prophecy involving some well written men. Series Overall I really wanted to love this series it had all the makings of something I could fall in love with. The first book was fantastic I loved the story line and the main characters. However the more books I read the more it seemed that the author was copy and pasting from book to book. I understand that there were certain things about these groups of people that did not change but it become so repetitive. Then there was the fact that the women kept saying how powerful they were but their characters took a back seat when it came to the issues being resolved. Thankfully the women did have some strengths in each book so they were not totally off putting to read about. Also the chemistry between each set of main characters was great. I give the series as a whole 3 stars although some books were rated higher. I would recommend this series to anyone who is first starting out with paranormal. These books show what I find to be the best thing about paranormal romance, the importance of bonds between mates. Also the books aren't that long so you do not need to commit a whole lot of time reading each one. |

Poetic Expressions is just as it's name suggests. A poetic expression of the author's emotional journey in life. An acknowledgement is made to the Lord for blessing her with the gift of words and her faith is clear throughout the book. The poems highlight everything from lost, love, and finding yourself. What I loved about this book is that the author really put her heart into the words that she was writing. The emotion of what she was feeling comes through with each poem. Nothing seemed to be written just for the sake of having something to say. My favorite poem was Grandma as it was the one that I felt the most connection to. As a person who mourns the lost of my grandmother daily the words touched a special put of my heart. Other notable poems are "I Am Finally Free", "A Real Man" and Acceptance." I would recommend this book to any one that loves poetry. It's not a long read and great for someone that just wants to get lost inside someone else's heart for a little while. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. This book made me feel. Not one emotion but all of them. Before I read this book I felt like I had read quite a few great books this year giving some ratings of 4 and 5 stars. Then I read this and I realize that I haven't actually been touch by a great book in a long time. Sure I have been in the presence of some awesome books, books that have had storylines that flowed and characters that popped. The truth is none of those books had the power to crush my soul and that's actually what Beloved did to me. I broke not just my heart but my soul was sucked out of my body and shattered and although I am broken I loved every minute of this book. This book is about Cat a women who has been abandoned by every man that she has ever dared to love. She goes though so much I swear there was times when I felt that the author just wanted us (Cat and the readers) to suffer for something that we had zero control over. I wanted to scream that it was to much that she couldn't take anymore. Just when I thought all was lost we meet Jackson and he is a ray of sunshine created out of the black hole of life. His character is swoon worthy but he's real and has a past that isn't void of emotions. There are some supporting characters and they helped break up some of the heaviness or add some but always helping move the story along. There are evil exes, jealous wannabes, silly but smart best friends and heartless parents. Then the book ends and I swear I have never wanted to find an author and shake her so bad. It ends on a cliffhanger but not just any cliffhanger. A cliffhanger that breaks my dreams. I need to know what happens and thankfully the next book is out so I don't have to wait to learn what happens. I give this book 5 stars because as much as I hated the cliffhanging ended this book was amazing. I would recommend it to anyone. It deal with some heavy issues, as a little bit of sex, a lot of drama and a great storyline. ****CLICK THE PICTURE OF BELOVED TO BE TAKEN TO THE AMAZON PURCHASE PAGE**** Until Tomorrow Comes is a book of poetry written by LaDonna Marie. It's been a while since I sat down and read a book that what just the inner thought of and it was a nice change in pace. The thing that I loved about this book is that I really felt like I was getting a glimpse at the emotions of the writer. While some poems didn't touch me others reflected things that I saw either in myself or those around me. I loved that it was written in sections and that gave me an understanding of why she was feeling what she was feeling. I will say that some of the poems are heavier than others and that this is not the romance poems that some people think of when they thing about a book of poetry. These poems are about life, love and desires and the will to overcome. My favorite poem is Conversations With a Child. This one made me think of the conversations that I had with my brother growing up and the ones that I now have with my daughter. This poem is in the third part of the book entitled Encouragement. I also found that the Encouragement and the I've Arrived sections of the book held the most poems that caught my attention. I gave this book 4 stars. I loved that the author was able to place emotions on paper however this wasn't true with every poem for me. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves the spoken word but also loves to read it. ******CLICK ON THE PICTURE TO BE TAKEN TO THIS BOOKS AMAZON PAGE****** This review is going to be a little different because I am reviewing a complete series.First I'll tell you what I felt about it and then I will highlight my favorite scenes without giving a lot a way. Keep in mind that this is an Adult Series. It's been a while since I have had a chance to come across a complete series (one that already had all the books released and didn't require a wait). The Wild Irish Series is about Sunday and Patrick Collin's seven children and each one of them get their own book. The eighth book is about Sunday and Pat but I strongly suggest that you read them in order and that you save Wild Irish Christmas last. Don't read it first to get a better understanding of the character it will just confuse you.
So what did I love about the series? I loved that Mari Carr, the author, was able to make a diverse series that did not feel disjointed or reused. Each character had different strengths and different weakness than the book before it. At the same time there were character traits that the family shared that really made this feel like I was looking onto the lives of a real family and not something that was made up. Some books such as Wednesday and Friday touch on very serious social issues that always make me excited to read because I think it's important to bring awareness. This doesn't mean that the books lack the heat that the others have the story lines are just different. Other books are just over the top fun such as Saturday's. Each book gives you a reason to smile and since it's a close knit family you want to keep reading to find out what will happen next for the other siblings. Come Monday My favorite scene in this book is the the pub closet scene and everything that happened because of it. Ruby Tuesday My favorite scene in this book is 10:15pm. Waiting for Wednesday My favorite scene in this book is cherries. Sweet Thursday My favorite scene in this book is Lilly and the reunion announcement. Friday I'm In Love My favorite scene in this book is the office scene. Saturday Night Special My favorite scene in this book is the lap dance scene. Any Given Sunday My favorite scene in this book is the complete makeup. Wild Irish Christmas My favorite scene in this book is the plane ticket scene. I give this series 5 stars because it was just a great pleasure to read. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for an adult series to get lost in. Some books are more serious, some more freaky, some more fun but together the series is great!!!!! *****Click on the Picture to be taken to the first book in the series***** I was on of the lucky people who was blessed with an Advanced Readers Copy of this book at Bookcon this year. Mine was also signed so I'm super thankful to the author. This is a novella but it has a decent page count of 111. I found this to be a great set up for what I am hoping will become a great series. I really enjoyed that there is a goal to work towards in this book. I always find it interesting when a book has a purpose. Plus while this is a book about fairies and humans I found that the overall message of the book is very positive and can be used in every day life. The main characters have a nice contrast of characteristics that I found worked really well together. There was a little humor in the book but I found it to be quirky and subtle.Micheal and Tulupea seem like they have a great story ahead of them. Tuluplea is written as a take no non sense type of person but she also has a deep layer of compassion built into her. I feel that there is some hardships ahead of her (this part is an assumption on my part as I am hoping that there is more to this story). I give this book 4 stars mostly because I wanted more of it. I would recommend it to anyone that likes to read paranormal and looking for something that will pass a couple of hours time. I would consider this to be a a young adult read. *****You can click on the picture to be taken to the amazon purchase page***** This books was PACKED with Drama. It is written through the eyes of the 4 main characters. The written style was both interesting and overwhelming for me. Part of me felt that there was so much going on that I was overwhelmed by all the interactions. The other part of me was so nosy I felt like all I could do was see what else I could learn about the characters. Every single character in this book was a complete mess. Roxanne had all types of issues going on. She used pleasure to take her mind off of everything but then things just keep piling up. I keep reading because I was sure that one it exploded it was going to be a read to remember. Then there was Mark the man she was engaged to. He was using pleasure to feel alive again. He was dealing with a past that was started to repeat itself. Next we had Royal the bad boy of the book. He was a good connecting character. Royals character allowed smooth transaction between story line plots while adding fuel to a already burning fire. Lastly there was Ayana the only person in the book that I felt any real connection to. She was just looking for love and kept getting the short end of the stick. The author does a really great job of connecting the four characters and their story lines. I also liked that each character while connected stood out as an individual. I give this book 3 stars. I really feel that the things that happen to Ayana was something that needed to be written about. Ayana saved the story for me. In the end I lost interest in what was happening to Roxanne because she was doing it to herself. I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a book filled with revenge, lust, love, pain, hurt and family secrets. *****CLICK ON THE PICTURE TO BE TAKING TO AMAZON PURCHASE PAGE***** I do not remember buying this book but oh greatness am I happy that it was on Kane (my kindle). This book was great. After reading it I did a little research and I'm excited to tell you all that this was and still is currently free on Amazon as a Kindle purchase. Granted I understand that there is some reservation when it comes to getting free books but this one is worth it. Here's why. First for a free read it has 338 pages. The story line is hot and steamy but Colin the Male Lead is also awe worthily sweet. There were many times when I was reading it that I would just sigh with contentment for the things that he was telling Charlie the Female Lead. Besides the steam and romance this book as a strong story line that is engaging, complex and filled with past secrets. The author does an excellent job of getting the emotions to bleed through the pages. There are some interesting supporting characters my favorite being Aiden. I just loved the humor that he brought to the story line. Trust me the humor is needed because the story line is intense. There is a lot going on but it wasn't overwhelming. I wanted more and more each time I swiped Kane's screen. There is a drawn back to this book and that's that it ends without a clear ending. There is an ending. It does end in a way that this part of Colin and Charlies relationship has closer however I was totally unsatisfied and needed to know more. The upside is that the second book was released already and can be purchased for 2.99 on Amazon Kindle edition. I give this book 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone looking for a book that has more than just steam to offer. The story line speaks for itself and I am looking forward to reading more about Colin and Charlie. ****Click on the cover of Midnight to be taken to the Amazon purchase page**** This is book two of the lovers and liars series by Liz Meldon. It starts out by letting the readers know that reading book one may be helpful before this one. I want to point out that I haven't read the first book and was not lost with this one. From what I have gathered from what the main characters mentions in the first book Loki and Aphrodite meet up and together they go on their first assignment so to speak.(This part is assumed because as I stated I did not read the first book)
This was a blind read for me. Meaning I started this book without knowing anything about it. I hadn't even even read the synopsis. The first couple of pages I was thinking this was not going to be something that I was going to like. Not because it was a GLBT read. The main character first comes off as a total B**TH. The more I read the more layers are added to Sam and the book does a 360 turn around for me. I loved Sam's character. This wasn't a long read, however in under 200 pages the author was able to provide the main character with a back story, and a present that keep me completely engaged. The supporting characters while weren't written with so much depth served a purpose and added to the story. The title sets you up for some type of pain but I what wasn't prepared for such an emotional read from something that starts off so over the top. I loved that the while there is a lot of heavy emotional issues going on there is also some fun and that helped me as a reader not feel so weighed down. There are also some quotable moments that give you something to think about regardless of your take on the lifestyle. I got caught up in what I was reading and felt for the characters as they were going through it. At first I thought I was going to hate Sam but there are people in this book that make what I though was bad seem like nothing. Its a sad day that we live in times that things like this really happen to people. I think this book was important because it shreds light on an important issue. I give this book 4 stars because there were times when I felt fed up with the way the main character was acting. Although I will agree that it played into the character perfectly. I would recommend this book to anyone that is open minded and looking for a quick emotional read. As I stated above this is a GLBT read however there are issues in this story that anyone could be dealing with and in a way this book can push someone hurting to take a positive step at healing. ****CLICK THE PICTURE TO BE TAKEN TO WOUNDED'S AMAZON PURCHASE PAGE**** |
