Beautiful Affliction is a memoir about the Lene's internal struggle of knowing something is wrong with her when no one believes you. To tell her story she combines the past with the present with words that are weaved together beautifully. Lene's story starts out in Sweden as a young girl and switches up to her being a mother of two who has just moved to America with her husband.
This is a really inspiring story because it reminds people to always trust themselves. Even though she was told by the doctors not to worry it didn't stop her symptoms or her thoughts that the end was near. The author has a way of describing her condition so clearly that as a reader I was able to almost feel what she felt. She also does a great job of bringing us into her world. I felt like I not only knew what she was going through but I knew her and those that were important to her.
I give this book 5 stars and would recommend it to anyone, Beautiful Afflictions is written almost poetically and the words are inspiring. I thank the author for sharing her journey with the world.
