As some of you may know and for those that don't I have recently made the jump from women's fiction writing to paranormal romance writing with the July release of His Fate Mate. As a paranormal romance reader I expected that I would run into people that didn't like the genre, have never read the genre or just were not interested in giving it a chance. Honestly I was and am completely okay with that because there are certain genres that just do nothing for me as a reader personally, no matter how many people recommend the books to me.
What I didn't expect and what actually made me sad was the amount of people that came to me to say that as a woman of color I wasn't writing like one. Not only were they discrediting the work I put in creating my book but they were disregarding all the paranormal writers of color that came before me and will come after me. Determined to prove those people wrong I decided to host a Paranormal In Color Online Book Fair to shine some light on the overlooked writers of color in the genre. I wanted to have a central location for other paranormal writers to gather together. Where both the authors and the readers of paranormal proved that just like with everything else in this world there are people of color representing here as well. Let me be clear the book fair is not meant to exclude those who happen to not be of color but is intended to give a platform to those that wouldn't normally have one. And yes I'm sure someone will still say that there is no need for an event like this when I could have just said a paranormal book fair. No need to continue a racial divide but the fact of the matter is as long as there are people that will question an author's credentials as a writer because of the color of their skin and the style of their books there will be a need for people to stand up and prove that those views are a perception and not a reality. I'm choosing to shine light on the reality by hosting Paranormal In Color.

Now that I have explained where the idea and why the idea for Paranormal In Color came from let me give you some information about the event. I consider myself a paranormal romance writer but the Paranormal In Color event will also feature fantasy writers and horror writers. Basically authors of color who write the unexplainable, the creepy, the crawly and the downright scary will be showcasing their work, taking readers questions and running giveaways.
