Happy New Year Everyone! This year is starting off with a bang. Today is January 2nd and I have already completed two books. Not because I was rushing to get it done but because they were so good. I am not a huge fan of human books because I find that they lack in making the characters believable to me. I expect my books about humans to have depth and well rounded characters. After all we aren't perfect but we do have perfect moments. That's what I want to see and that's exactly what I got. Lexi is divorced with two kids working hard to keep sane while taking care of her girls without much help from her ex husband. Luke is trying to rebuild a life in his hometown after everything fell apart. This isn't a boy meets girl and everything falls into place story. There's drama, secrets, humor and sex but the books kept me entertained. I wanted to know how things were going to turn out and the author kept things interesting with supporting characters that helped connect everything.
Book 1: Hot Mess, I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars mostly because I was pissed that it was a cliffhanger. It's 300 plus pages thought so that made me feel better. Cliffhangers aren't my favorite things to read but at least book two is already out and the author did a great job revealing just enough. Luke is my type of character. He's strong and sweet and caring. I had so many questions about the past because I could tell that it was going to an important part for the future. And then bam the book was over.
Book 2: Twice Burned, I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. I love when cliffhangers start off right where the first book left off. Granted it could have just been one long book but that's neither here nor there. This book was also 300 plus pages. As good as book 1 was this one was amplified. Everything was more and the emotions that the author was able to convey was great. All the answers that I had were answered and almost nothing that I was guessing was what really went down. For me that's a plus because it means that author wasn't trying to be like the norm.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good old fashion romance that is equal parts fairytale love and reality. These books do have lots of sexaul scenes so keep that in mind if that isn't something that you are interested in. There is a book 3 and 4 about Luke's brother Cole but I'm debating if I forgive him yet before I read his story. You'll completely understand if you read these books what I mean.
