This book starts out with a bang literally. Within the first few pages the tone is set for the type of story this will be. The details that are packed into the prologue pull you right in. BLOOD OF A QUEEN is a fast paced read but it doesn't seem rushed. In fact the author does a great job with the storyline building it up, not rushing to reveal all the secrets at once. I really like that there are many different characters that not only help move the story along but help connect the mystery.

This was a really engaging read that kept me guessing of when and how everything was going to come to a head. Not only are there family secrets but there are lies, coverups, heartbreak, betrayal and a little sunshine. The thing that I liked the most about this story were the charaters. Not any one character although I have a soft spot for Sean but the way the characters are written. There are so many characters but not in an overwhelming way. It made the story seem real because it was about a city and thus there needed to be more than a few people in the city. It also was great that they were not all carbon copies of each other. All the characters had a reason to be written in and they help with either a piece to the puzzle or a piecce of someone else.

I gave this book 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone that likes there books drama packed. I will say that this book while long and completely engaging ends on a cliff hanger so keep that in mind when you are reading.
