The Angels of Resistance by David Mammina is a book that I stumbled across during Bookcon this year. Well actually my daughter Jae stumbled upon it but I was lucky enough to be able to read it. The author did a great job of putting his stamp on a storyline of Apocalypse that has been done so many times before. I blew through the first 60 percent of this book but then I had to take my time with the rest. Not because it got less interesting but because so much was happening that I needed to take the time and understand it. There is alot happening, many questions posed and many answers revealed. Even when things that I thought was going to happen I wasn't prepared for how it actually happened. The characters that are created having a lasting impression and it felt like nothing was written as storyline filler.
The thing that I liked the most about this book is that it combined a lot of my favorite things into one book without it feeling overwhelming or disjointed. There was a well built paranormal storyline, a jounrey, an interesting backstory, answers that are revealed at a great pace not to quickly or slowly, characters to love and hate and a purpose. I also really enjoyed the details of the story. The battles, and characters are described so clearly that you are entered into the world created.
I give this book 5 stars. I would recommend it to anyone looking to be taking on a journey. The world that is created is one that you can easily become lost in. Due to the fact that this is a version of Apocalypse you can expect some violence and fighting and since this is a paranormal read you can also expect things to enact a little differently then just soldiers marching off to war.
