The first known book fair was in 1946 in Frankfurt, Germany. This book fair which is known as the Frankfurt Book Fair still takes place annually in Mid-October. The Frankfurt Fair is a 5 day event in which publishers and authors come together with readers. Today there are many other known book fairs through out the world however there is also new trend today called an eBook Fair. Just like the traditional book fairs, eBook fairs are a place that those who are working in the literature world can come together with those who enjoy the work that they do. The convenience of having an eBook fair is that this is something that can be done in the comfort of your home. There is not a limit of people that can participate or the people that can attend. Another plus to readers is that the events are also usually free to attend.
The way that a Facebook eBook Fair works is that an event is created that people are able to join. There is a host person who organizes the events, makes it available and sets the event rules. The event is created before the start of the date so that people have time to join although as long as the event is going on you may join at any time. Once the fair opens, Authors and Publisher will have a booth that displays their work. The booths are actually post that anyone can click on. No booth will be the same because they each will showcase a different author, publishing company or book. Depending on how the event is organized some people may have more than one booth on display.
So now that I have giving an overview of Book Fairs and eBook Fairs I want to talk about the Urban Book Fair that is going to take place from February 27 through March 1st of 2015. This is the second Urban eBook Fair that Pink Noire's founder Imani Wisdom is hosting. There will be many Authors there who are showcasing both new and old reads so that there is something for everyone. This will be a complex blend of writing styles, book themes, and publishers contributions. The great thing about this fair is that it's not just about Authors and Publishers getting there work out. This is very much an interactive event that will allow readers to ask questions about the books, the authors inspiration and if there is anything upcoming that should be shared. There are also contest and giveaways that make the event fun to attend. Some prize sponsors worth mentioning are Antwan Floyd Sr, Barbara Joe Williams, Carla M. Dean, Chyta Curry, Lakia Nichole, Loretta Walls and Shelia Goss. If this is something that you would like to attend you can click on the picture to be brought to the events page.
*Let's Discuss. How you ever attended either a Traditional Book Fair or an eBook Fair? Do you think that this is something that would interest you? Will you be attending the event now that you know more about it?
