Alanna's Words to Live By:
The hardest thing about completing something is getting started, so my first advice to anyone who wants to be good at anything at all is that you must take that first step. Alanna's mantra is "progress is a process," because as human beings, we always want to see instant results. Life isn't like that, life will make you wait years and years until you will finally realize all that you've accomplished. So, keep pushing and working towards your dreams.
Zara Alam is from London, and her vivid novel: The Endless Sea is a type of homage to it. She studied Philosophy and Drama at the University of Kent before going back to receive a Masters in Psychotherapy. Zara's final thesis, which always informs her work, was on the psychology of romantic love. Other than writing her passions include studying symbolism from the psychological to Greek myth as well as trying to understand what drives human relationships.
Not happy with hum-drum or kitchen sink style, Zara Alam can't help but create a world where much is under threat, full of deception, lies, spies and danger but also where beautiful places, words and things, still hold a refuge. The Endless Sea, set in London, and played out in delicious prose, is about how most of our relationships fail when held up to our perfect idea for them; although we still gain, even if things will never be perfect.
